Description

Items relating to Excelsior North school, which was about 4 miles west and 1.5 miles south of Maroa, Illinois.

The school opened in 1865 and was consolidated into the Austin Township School in 1945. In 1950, the 1/2 section of land, which contained the schoolhouse, was annexed into the Maroa School District. It was sold in 1953 for $1600.

Hylma Woodcock Pacely was the teacher at Excelsior North School, outside of Maroa, Illinois, from 1930-1945. She was the longest-consecutive teacher for that school.
