Description

Mt. Pleasant School was one of the only two schools given a superior rating in Macon County in 1916.

Mt. Pleasant School was located in Section 8 in Hickory Point Township. This school opened some time prior to 1867. In 1871 the building was moved to the SE corner of Nathan S. Batchelder's farm.

In 1914 the old school was razed and a new schoolhouse was built on the same site. This school was one of the two Macon County schools rated "superior" in 1916.

Due to declining enrollment, Mt. Pleasant school closed in the late 1930s. During the 1947 district consolidations, the Mt. Pleasant area became part of the Warrensburg-Latham School District.

The Mt. Pleasant school building was sold at auction in 1948 and was going to be relocated to another site, but burned down in July 1948 prior to being moved.
