Scrapbook Caption: Jean Heinz and Elinor Lewis won first place in harmony [duet]. Sang "On Good Ship Lollipop." They were dressed alike in yellow organdy. Mrs. Tim Lewis was their accompanist.
Independence School District #33 was 1.5 miles east of Forsyth on the south side of County Highway 20. The school opened prior to 1880 and was formed to stay "independent" of the Forsyth school.

Independence School closed in 1940.
