"The Trojans piled up a record of 13 victories and 12 defeats, as well as winning third in the county tournament. This is one of the best records for several years.
"The Trojans achieved the good deed of downing Argenta 41-38. This was the first time Maroa had won over Argenta for many years. We went to the Macon County tournament and in the first [sic] game downed Warrensburg. In the semi-finals the Trojans again met Argenta and came out on the short end by 51-48 in an over-time. We won over Niantic the final night for third place. Our center, W. H. St. John, was elected to all-conference team by a poll of sports writers of the conference schools.
"The second team, paced by two freshmen boys, Jack Walters and Bill Sinkosky, won 10 and lost 10 to end their season with a .500 mark. The squad of 27 boys will lose only three seniors.
"Athletic Managers: John Agee, Jerry Elliot" (from 1948 Maroa High School Yearbook)
