The Prairie Center School was located in Section 20 of Hickory Point Township 1 mile north of Bearsdale and 2.5 miles west of I-72 on the north side of Hickory Point Road. The school was built sometime prior to 1895.

A school remodel around 1915/16 added a basement, furnace, cooking area, new front area with boys’ and girls’ cloakrooms, and a small library room.

Although located just outside of Forsyth, Illinois, during the school consolidations in the late 1940s, this school was consolidated into the Warrensburg-Latham District. The school building was sold for $1950 in October 1947 and was turned into a private residence. The home is still standing in 2022.
