Description

Students identified in photograph by Janet Sibthorp Brewer, quoted from Rural Schools of Macon County:

"I see my mother, my Aunt Ora, Mrs. George Long...George Lienhart, Duane and Keith Brett, Lorena Seig...There are 5 boys in the back of picture I can't name except to tell you that 2 or 3 of them are the Kinkaid boys who lived in the house by Mr. Dewein's elevator. My sister, Marian Jeanne, is second from the right in the second row and Imogene Malone...is next. Coming left is Betty Ann Lienhart; the next one is a Blazer girl, I believe, and pre-schooler Janet."

Flood School was located about 1.5 miles north of Forsyth on the west side of Rt 51. It was built in 1881 by Henry Flood and closed in 1942. The schoolhouse and property were sold in 1948.
