Prairie Center School was located in Section 20, Hickory Point Township about 1 mile north and .5 mile east of Bearsdale. The school was built sometime around 1876 and was remodeled in 1915/16 to include a basement, furnace, cloakrooms, and a small library area.

During school consolidations in the late 1940s, Prairie Center School district was annexed into the Warrensburg-Latham district. Prairie Center School closed in 1947 and the building was sold and is a private residence in 2022.
