Caption: "These fine large trees on the Fair Play school grounds, a mile east of Emery on the road to Argenta, have been doing excellent service in providing shade for more than a half century. But they are beginning to blight and die, and are badly in need of replacements."
Fair Play School was located in Section 36 of Maroa Township, a half-mile east of Emery. The first schoolhouse was in existence prior to 1874. At some point, the old schoolhouse was replaced with a newer building.
Fair Play School was consolidated in the Maroa-Forsyth School District for the 1947-1948 school year and was closed after the 1949-1950 school year. The school building was sold in November 1953.
