Description
Alvetta Harris, the only girl enrolled in Center Ridge school, stands by and watches while the other pupils play leap frog. Alvetta entered the school this semester to make it a coeducational school instead of a boys' school. The boys from left to right are Wendell Hastings, Warren Hastings, Donald Galloway, Mac Berry, Glenn Zakrzewski, Robert Redd, and Edmund Harris.
Center Ridge School was located midway between Maroa and Warrensburg, three miles west of Emery. It was built in 1860 and closed in 1947, as part of the Maroa-Forsyth School District consolidation. The school building was sold for $900 in November 1947.
