American School students next to school building.
The American School, built in 1874, was located three miles east of Maroa. The school was consolidated into the Maroa-Forsyth School District in 1948 and closed after the 1950-1951 school year. In 1952, the schoolhouse was sold and moved a quarter of a mile to be used as a farm toolshed.
